Maryland Registered Agent.co

Nice Dashboard, Doubled Renewal

Maryland resident agent service at a flat $99 per year. Physical address, scanned legal mail, compliance alerts. Renewals stay the same price.

Maryland cityscape

Quick heads up on who is talking. Maryland Registered Agent.co wrote this page, and we sell the $99 service sitting in the right column below. That is a bias, so read our self-assessment with a raised eyebrow. The ZenBusiness figures come straight off their published rate sheet, so those you can trust regardless of what you make of us.

Their Software Really Is Nicer Than Ours

Let us get the honest part out of the way early. ZenBusiness runs the slickest platform in this business. Formation filings, compliance reminders, and agent mail all sit in one tidy account, and somebody clearly sweated the details. If what you want is a business admin dashboard with the agent role as one tile on it, that is a perfectly sensible thing to buy.

Act One Is $99, Act Two Is $199

Buy agent service on its own and the opening year runs $99 plus state fees. Renewals land at $199 annually and stay there for the whole life of the service. Both numbers are published. Neither is a bait and switch. The one that matters is $199, though, because Maryland wants an agent on file for as long as your entity exists, and most businesses outlive their first twelve months by a comfortable margin.

The job on the other side of the invoice never changes. Somebody sits at a Maryland address during business hours and takes the envelope when a process server walks in. Year one, year eight, same task. Only the bill grew.

Keep an eye on that "plus state fees" tag riding along with the opening price, too, because it leaves your first charge dependent on whatever else lands in the cart beside it.

Small translation note, because it trips people up mid-comparison. Maryland's statute says resident agent where nearly every other state says registered agent, and the definition at section 1-101(x) covers an individual who lives here, plus corporations, LLCs, and limited partnerships formed under Maryland law. Both companies in the table clear that bar without effort. The state is not grading anybody on their software.

What Our $99 Includes

  • The renewal notice says $99, the same as the signup screen, indefinitely
  • Anything a process server hands us gets scanned the day it arrives, with an email straight to you
  • Our Maryland street address on the public record instead of your kitchen table
  • A nudge before April 15, when the state's flat $300 Form 1 falls due
  • A portal that works from a phone at eleven at night

Are we the cheapest in Maryland? No, and we are not going to fudge it. BetterLegal publishes $90 a year, nine dollars under us. What we will happily claim: $99 is down at the low end of published Maryland pricing, the scanning is inside the price rather than sold beside it, and it does not creep upward.

Dropping ZenBusiness Costs $25 in Maryland

One filing, one fee, one agency. The filing is a resolution, formally titled Resolution to Change Principal Office or Resident Agent, and there is no form number to hunt for because SDAT does not number these. The fee is $25, and it does not shift depending on whether you formed here or registered in from another state. The agency is SDAT's Charter Division, reachable on paper or online through Maryland Business Express, where paying with a card tacks on a 3 percent service charge.

Order it like this: enroll with us, put our Maryland name and address on the resolution, file and pay the $25, watch your entity listing until the new agent shows up, and cancel ZenBusiness after that. Following that sequence means the agent line on your record is never empty, not even for an afternoon. Our Maryland change of agent page has the details.

One small kindness buried in Maryland's fee schedule: an agent that resigns on its own pays nothing to file the resignation. The $25 is for appointing a replacement.
