Buying the Seat Without the Subscription
Maryland resident agent service at a flat $99 per year. Physical address, scanned legal mail, compliance alerts. Renewals stay the same price.
Fair warning about the source. This page is published by Maryland Registered Agent.co, which sells the $99 service in the second column and profits whenever a reader moves. Rocket Lawyer's $125 is their published number, quoted as they state it.
No Teaser Rate, and That Is Rare
Registered agent service at Rocket Lawyer is $125 annually, and that figure holds no matter which membership tier a customer sits on. Plenty of companies in this category open low and step up on the anniversary. Rocket Lawyer does not, and pretending that consistency counts for nothing would be dishonest.
The Question Is What Else You Are Buying
The catch is not the price, it is the packaging. Rocket Lawyer sells a legal subscription: document templates, attorney consultations, help with filings, with the agent role tucked in as one piece of the whole. If your business drafts agreements regularly and you like having a lawyer on tap without hourly billing, that money is doing work.
If what your Maryland LLC actually needs is an in-state address, a person there between nine and five, and documents forwarded quickly, then part of every $125 is renting software you will never open. Only you can price that difference.
| Item | Rocket Lawyer | Maryland Registered Agent.co |
|---|---|---|
| Agent service | $125/year | $99/year |
| Tier dependent | No | No tiers offered |
| Bundled with | Legal templates, attorney consultations | Nothing else |
Twenty-six dollars a year, one hundred and thirty over five. Modest, and it buys the difference between a subscription and a single line item.
What the State Checks, and What It Does Not
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereMaryland's test for an agent is narrow. There has to be a real street address in the state, somebody available during regular business hours, and a name on file with SDAT. No post office boxes, no virtual offices. That is the whole examination. Nobody at the state asks whether your provider offers contract templates, and nobody hands out better outcomes to companies with longer product lines. Which is exactly why price and turnaround are fair grounds for the decision: everyone in the table above already meets the legal standard.
One Maryland detail that catches people who registered from out of state. A foreign LLC has to file the same $300 annual report even if it owns no property here at all, with no exemption for a light footprint. Whoever holds your agent line is the party who receives that notice, which is a better reason to care about turnaround than about template libraries.
Our Whole Offer in One Paragraph
$99 a year, renewing at $99, one product at checkout. Our Maryland address goes on the public resident agent line instead of yours. Anything a process server leaves gets scanned the same business day and emailed over, with a copy waiting in the portal. Reminders go out ahead of April 15, when Maryland's flat $300 combined report falls due, and if that month is already crowded the state lets you push the report to June 15 at no cost by asking online.
We will not call ourselves the cheapest in Maryland. BetterLegal lists $90 a year, and that is that. $99 just happens to sit in the low band of published rates here, and it does not climb.
If Rocket Lawyer Goes, Here Is the Filing
One resolution, $25, filed with SDAT's Charter Division, and our Maryland change of agent walkthrough covers every field on it. The point worth making outside that link is sequencing. Line up the new agent before the form goes in, since it has to name one, and let the Rocket Lawyer arrangement stand until SDAT's record shows the swap. That overlap is what stops your entity from sitting agentless for a week while paperwork moves.
Also worth separating: the agent line and the membership are two different decisions. If the templates and the attorney calls are earning their keep, keep the subscription and move only the agent. Nothing in Maryland law requires your agent and your legal software to come from the same company.
Nine Maryland services with their published prices are in our rundown.
